Flashback Friday’s: Side Hustle & School Flow

Life, Life

Not sure why but I have been listening to Drake nearly every day this week. This particular album gets me pumped.

If I die, I’m a legend.

I haven’t been doing anything overly exciting to report but this weekend is my brother’s birthday so I will be having a lot of family fun time over the weekend. I’m sure it will include movies, music, good food, laughs and more. Nothing wrong with that!

School & Work Life

Now that school officially starts for me next week there are going to be a lot of changes happening in my life including my work schedule. I will be working less days (and hours) which is fine because I will need that time for studying and working on school projects. It also means that I have more time to work on my business and projects. I am actually super excited about that.

One thing I am working on is creating a “work” schedule for my side hustling. I get distracted fairly easily at times so I have to schedule things in smaller blocks. I am still trying to figure out if I should do more days with less blocks or less days with more blocks. I’m going to test out my first “schedule” next week and see how it goes.

One thing that is driving me bonkers is our WiFi. With school and work done primarily online I need to have WiFi that I can rely on. I am thinking about getting a stick so that I always have a backup when needed.

Side Hustler Tips & Resources:

Blog Life

Per usual, a lot of behind the scenes things have been going on with my blogging. I am changing my blog task schedule to fit better with what I am trying to accomplish by 2017. I am excited about what I have been doing and the things that I have planned for the near future.

Flashback Friday’s: August Ramblings

So week 2 of August is in the wind! How has this new month been treating you? For myself things have been going much better than the first 7 months of the year. HA! So I’m happy to say I am in a good place right now. I hope that things continue to go smoothly througout the rest of year.

Anywho, welcome to Flashback Friday’s – my way of sharing what I have been up to during the week with all of my readers. If you are new here – thank you for stopping by. Don’t be afraid to say hello in the comments – I promise I don’t bite… usually 😃 But seriously, thank you for stopping by and make sure you take a look around to see what else has been going on.

Life, Life

Besides trying to survive this humidity, things have been going fairly well lately. I have been planning some self-care into my schedule along with a staycation hopefully in the near future. I have been trying to schedule in more time doing things that bring me joy and it has been working well so far.

Last weekend I went and met up with a friend for lunch and checked out an exhibit at one of the museums – that was a nice way to spend what would have otherwise been just a lazy day at home with the fan blasting on me. I even made a point to stop at one of the beaches on my way home from a family gathering and just walk along the shore enjoying the sunset and cool summer evening. I hope for more days like those.

During the week I also broke my “don’t go anywhere after coming home and taking my bra off during a weeknight” rule and met up with a friend that was in town. So happy that I dragged myself out of the house to meet up for drinks and some good laughs. Maybe I do have a little bit of a social life. lol

For those of you that have known me for awhile know I have had so many different health issues in the past couple of years. Well I am happy to say that aside from the heat I have been feeling really well lately. I have been eating healthier and working out a bit more as well so my body has really been feeling great. Wish me luck with keeping this up as I approach another semester in college.

Work Life

Work almost seems like a stand still while we wait for the department we work with to get their act together. I am still debating on getting a second job to supplement my income but I enjoy the schedule that I have – no nights or weekends – something that I am not sure I am ready to sacrifice (again.) We shall see how things go. Monster.com has been sending me the most random messages for jobs that I am not even qualified for. HA! Maybe they know something that I don’t know?

School Life

So… I cannot believe that the new semester starts in 10 days. The farther away it was the more prepared I felt. Now that it is less than 2 weeks away I am feeling anxious – mainly because last semester was a bit of a roller coaster for me. But I have chosen to stay positive and not freak out over it. Say a little prayer for me please.

I spoke to the Academic Advising office today and found out I actually have 1 less course to take than I initially had. That is such a huge relief. This has been such a long, exhausting and stressful process for me but I won’t go into the crappy details. Just wish me luck!

Blog Life

Due to the crazy weather we had over the weekend my blog time that I had planned out did not go quite the way that I wanted. WiFi outages and a leaky ceiling took me from what was supposed to be a productive day. This weekend I think things will go a little smoother.

One thing that I have been thinking about lately is that I really need to start doing videos/vlogs. I am so nervous about doing videos and feel super uncomfortable on camera most of the time (unless I’m being my goofy self). If you follow me on Snapchat you probably notice what a goof ball I am. But from a blogging and business standpoint I do need to get serious about added videos to my blog posts – especially when I do product reviews.

As a blogger that often gets paid (in money, discounts or products) for reviews I lose out on a lot of potential income because I do not usually do videos. If you a vlogger what are some of your tips to get started? Let me know in the comments or hit me up on Twitter.

P.S. What do you think about Instagram‘s video vs Snapchat? Are you loyal to Snapchat? I’m curious to know.

August Back to School Deals

Can you believe it is August already? I swear this summer went by in a flash – sneeze again and it is going to be Christmas. Alright, alright, alright… I don’t want to give you anxiety. HA! Any who, going to school – whether it is for a child or an adult comes with some money-sucking expenses at times. From supplies to clothes and for college students $100+ textbooks it can be a lot. As a college student myself, I cringe every semester thinking about the money I dish out for different supplies and textbooks which is what inspired me to write this post.

Just because public school started that doesn’t mean there aren’t some great deals out there to take advantage of. Whether you are the parent or guardian of a school-aged kid or a college student yourself, here are some of the great deals that I found around the web and just had to share.

Some of the links in this post are affiliate links and if you choose to purchase a product or service I may get a small commission (at no additional cost to you.) Any product or service listed here are items I have either purchased and/or personally recommend.

Supplies

Textbooks & Studying Tools

  • Amazon: As a fellow college student I know that the cost of textbooks can be extremely expensive which is why I always check online for prices to see if I can get a better deal. I have ordered several textbooks for different courses via Amazon and have never been disappointing. How does saving up to 80% on Textbooks sound? You can choose from new, used and select eTextbooks. They have a huge selection to choose from so make sure you check it out to see if you can get your textbooks at a better price. Make sure to read the details to make sure it comes with any access codes that some courses require for online access.

[Additional bonus: Sign up for Amazon Prime Student for FREE Two-Day Shipping on millions of items, unlimited photo storage, FREE Kindle book rentals and more. Amazon Prime Student is a $50 savings off of the regular Amazon Prime subscription.]

Clothing & Accessories

  • Old Navy: Their back to school sale is currently offering 60% off Kids Styles, however, they continuously offer different savings so check to see what other additional savings they have available.

  • Target: Don’t you hate when you go purchase something and you can’t find the size that you need? Well my sister and I ran into that problem when we went shopping for school shoes for my niece and nephew – apparently every child in the area wears the same size lol. So what do you do when you see something you like but can’t find the size in the store? Look it up online of course. We were able to find the sizes we wanted as well as other styles of shoes and clothes for the kids. Target is having some great deals right now:
Kids Back to School: Spend $50 on Clothes and Shoes, save $10. Valid 7/31-8/6

Shop Kids + Spend $25, Get Free Shipping on Select at Target.com

  • Warby Parker: Now this may not be a “deal”, however, if you are looking for a new pair of glasses for this school year, Warby Parker helps you to be fashionable while doing something good for someone else as well. Pick from one of their absolutely gorgeous frames and for every pair sold, a pair is distributed to someone in need. I remember being in school for the first time with my new glasses – I had no idea that the world was so “clear” because I was so used to not wearing glasses. Purchase a pair for you or your child and give someone in need the opportunity be able to “see clearly” as well. What’s also cool (besides their frames and the opportunity to give back) is that you can select 5 frames and test them out for 5 days to see which one you like best. How fun is that?

For Fun

  • Kiwi Crate: If you’re into subscription boxes, Kiwi Crate is the box you buy for your favorite little one. They have different crates for all age ranges with different activities and projects for them. They are currently offering 30% off select boxes.

Misc

  • eBates: If you do a lot of shopping online I just have to remind you to join eBates. Once you go ahead and sign up for an eBates account install their Chrome extension for your browser. This magical extension will tell you if a store you are shopping online with has any cash back or coupon offers – often ones that you wouldn’t even know about without the eBates browser. Activate the offer and you will be on your way to getting cash back for things you would normally purchase.

Flashback Friday’s: Feeling hot, hot, HOT

It’s Friday again! You know what that means – the weekend! And I especially love Friday’s because I get to work from home. WOO HOO. Yay Friday!

flashback fridays hertaintedlips

Life, Life

IT IS HOT! Now if you go ahead and google the temperature for Hawaii you’re going to be like “what are you talking about Rose? It’s not that bad. Besides, you live in Hawaii – it is supposed to be hot.” WRONG! Now, I will admit, this summer has not been as hot as it was last summer (which was probably the hottest summer I ever remember in Hawaii out of all the summers I have ever lived here.) However, the humidity the past week or so has really done a number on me. I have been warned by the heat to up my water intake by nearly double. It has just been ridiculously hot.

I had a moment last week where I was so thirsty that I had to grab a bottled water in the store and start gulping – I felt like I was about to pass out. I think I am suffering from heat exhaustion because for a couple days in a row I just felt absolutely horrible. I am hoping that this comes to an end very soon because I have been feeling so damn miserable lately. Thank goodness for cool summer nights, fans, ice water and sugar-free slurpees!

In other news, I discovered one morning that one of my credit cards was used to make a fraudulent purchase. It was “only” $1.33 – but the thing about it is – I did not authorize that purchase. I called my credit card company and issued a fraud report. They cancelled my card and will be sending me a new one. I share this to remind all of you to please check your credit card and bank account statements. Figure out a system that works and stick to it.

The gentleman in the fraud department says most times what happens is your card will get charged a couple small amounts so the illegal scoundrels can see if you’re monitoring your account and suddenly *BAM* – they will try to charge a large amount. Let’s just say I was pretty damn heated and a bit annoyed because they couldn’t even trace where the charge came from. I googled the name of the lodge and it is a Yoga Retreat in Scotland. Even though I would love to go to Scotland one day and love myself some Yoga… that certainly wasn’t me.

In more exciting news – I binge-watched Netflix Original Series Stranger Things and I need them to come out with at least 2-6 more seasons… ASAP. Since I was left wanting more Sci-Fi goodies to fill up my time before school starts in a couple weeks I remembered that I didn’t finish watching Sense8. I am on episode 9 which is where it is getting even better but that also means I am almost to the end of that season – what do I do next? Let me know what you have been binge-watching on Netflix so I can check it out.

What I enjoyed reading this week:

  • 12 Reasons Entrepreneurs With Type-A Personalities Are Unstoppable: It seems like I always run into people that consider themselves Type-A’s and I think it is because of my interests, work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. This was a great read.
  • College Note Taking Tips: Check out Abigail’s excellent tips on taking notes. Her notes are so pretty and organized and her tips are just what I needed to get prepared for this upcoming semester.
  • 5 Ways to Add Self-Care to Your Bullet Journal: I have a little confession – I am a journal addict. I am not usually able to fill them up and have probably 20+ of them that are halfway filled. However, bullet journals are super popular right now and I was thinking about trying one or two out – one for blogging and one for self-care/personal goals so this was such a great time to find this post.

Blog Life, Life

I have been working a lot behind-the-scenes when it comes to blogging so expect to see more posts in the upcoming weeks. Last week I was able to post this Naturel Commodity Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid Review and of course a Flashback Friday’s post. I realized that sometimes when I am typing my fingers go so fast that the keyboard gets warm… hot even. It is actually happening right now as I type this out lol.

My goal is to post 3-5 times a week so I am slowly working my way up there. Since school is starting in a few weeks I do have a couple of college posts that are in the works so keep your eyes open for those. I have a couple of product reviews that I am working on as well – wish me luck!

Thank you so much for stopping by and reading – let me know how you got here. Did someone tell you to come check out the blog? Let me know in the comments as I would love to thank them (and you) xo

Naturel Commodity Vitamin C Serum + Hyaluronic Acid Review

I received a bottle of Naturel Commodity Vitamin C Serum at a discounted price in exchange for an honest product review. All opinions are my own. This post includes affiliate links and I may receive a small commission if you decide to purchase this product.

Naturel Commodity Vitamin C Serum Hyaluronic Acid Review

Naturel Commodity Vitamin C Serum is a powerful youth serum meant for women and men of all ages that enjoy the benefits of anti-aging products. This serum is meant to be used after washing your face and before applying your moisturizer (I prefer using one with an SPF.) The company recommends that you use this serum twice a day (morning and evening) for the best results.

Naturel Commodity Vitamin C Serum has the following ingredients meant to promote anti aging by making your skin look and feel younger:

  • 20% Vitamin C: prevents and treats UV-induced photodamage, helps in collagen synthesis, helps brighten skin
  • 11% Hyaluronic Acid: humectant which helps to prevent moisture loss
  • Aloe Vera: anti-inflammatory, helps heal damaged skin

When I first used Naturel Commodity Vitamin C Serum I giggled a little because the product is actually orange (like the lovely oranges that are full of Vitamin C). Not to worry – it doesn’t make your skin orange or anything. Due to the color I was expecting an orange/citrus scent, however, it has a very light scent – kind of a generic skin oil scent.

I really liked that it was lightweight and not too sticky – most products with Vitamin C that I have tried are super sticky. Also, it absorbed fairly quickly so I was able to put my moisturizer on fairly quickly on days that I was in a hurry.

What I also liked was the packing – the silver with white and orange is really pretty and it gives it a high end look. Also the airless pump is one of my favorites because you have better control of how much product comes out. I only used 1-3 pumps for my entire face and neck (don’t forget your neck ladies!)

Here are the main benefits of using Naturel Commodity Vitamin C Super Youth Serum:

  • Lifts and firms
  • Eliminates lines and wrinkles
  • Brightens skin
  • Removes dark circles
  • Stimulates collagen production

If you are a fan of serums, you would probably enjoy using Naturel Commodity Vitamin C Serum. It helped to brighten and firm my skin. I have dark spots and discoloration on my face and this super youth serum did lighten some of it. My neck looks significantly smoother with less lines and I do feel like my face in general looks firmer than when I first started using the product.

Are you a fan of anti-aging products? Have you tried Naturel Commodity Vitamin C Serum? Let me know in the comments.
