Product Empties and Reviews

If you’re like me you have a supply of beauty products to use up. I seem to have collected face washes, moisturizers and other products in the recent past and I tend to use random ones – whatever is right there to use. However, I told myself that I would start to use things more consistently so that I can use items up so that lead to this post.

Some of these products I may have talked about in the past, however, I may have a different opinion on them now since I used the product up.

  1. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel – $5.99 and up: This face wash leaves my skin feeling soft and cleansed. Not over-cleansed or stripped like a lot of face washes do. Just the right amount of cleansing and skin balancing that I like. I had the trial size of it and can’t remember when I got it from but I would definitely purchase the full size.
  2. Olhenriksen Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator – $36.00: This brand never disappoints. I have used several of items from their oil control line and have been pleasantly surprised. This line is said to control oil, mattify, reduce the look of pores, does not strip the skin and is noncomedogenic. This hydrator makes my skin feel soft and supple. It also keeps the greasies away for most of the day. I absolutely love the scent. It reminds me a spa so I feel like I am treating myself every time that I use it. I purchased this as part of their Balance it All Travel Kit which included their Balancing Force Oil Control Toner and Find Your Balance Oil Control Cleanser. I am really thinking about purchasing the full size set in the future.
  3. Garnier Clearly Brighter Argan Nut Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser – $7.99: Though this cleanser left my skin feeling clean, I did not think it was as gentle as it claims. The little beads (which I’m assuming are pieces of the argan nuts) are a bit rough on the skin. The actual gel part, however, got my skin cleansed and feeling good. As far as brightening, I do feel it helped to brighten my skin a bit. It wasn’t glowing but it did the job. I hate to throw products out and didn’t have anyone to pass this on to so I decided to use it up – which it felt like took forever, lol. I believe this was gifted to me by my sister and I would not purchase this again.
  4. Skin & Co Truffle Therapy Polishing Micro-Exfoiliating Truffle Face Gommage – $26.00: This was gifted to me by my sister and she used most of the product but there was enough in it for me to get several uses out of it. This was the 1oz tube so I’m assuming it is a trial/small size as it comes in 5oz tube as well. One thing I love about this is the smell – yummy and almondy. It has apricot kernels, truffle extract and almond oil in it. I like that it was exfoliating without being too rough on the skin. My skin soaked it right up and felt soft and supple even after the first use. It says to use 2-3 times a week so that is what I did (while using my other face cleanser on off days). I do think it softened up my skin and helped with some of the strange dry patches I’ve been having lately.

Email Subscriptions to Sign up For

I know – most of us continue to clean out our email subscriptions in order to get to inbox zero. I recently went on an unsubscribe spree myself. However, there are some subscriptions that I actually read and interact with so I thought I would share them here if you are looking for a daily dose of goodness.

If you use gmail I would suggest creating labels and having these automatically be labeled so that you can access them when you are ready to read them.

theSkimm: This email subscription “skims” news announcements, shares them and then offers bite size summaries that are easy to digest.

Daily Reflections by Susan Gregg: Susan offers a daily dose of thought-provoking goodness. From quotes to things that will make you dive deeper into your spirituality, there is something for everyone.

The Newsette: This subscription offers a morning update on things that are happening around the world, bits of inspirational information and topics that will spark conversations. Sign up for The Newsette via my referral link so I can earn some cool swag (and so can you once your friends sign up under your referral link).

Verily Magazine: Just think about a daily roundup of lifestyle articles, inspirational topics and much more. I love that I don’t have to go to their website everyday since they send updates daily.

Refinery29 Money Diaries: I am obsessed with this email subscription. Refinery29 sends you money diaries of people all around the globe. It includes peoples income, how much things cost and how they spend their money.

How To Make Money Blogging

You have a blog. You enjoy writing about a topic or several topics.

Now some of you may just be happy writing posts but there are also some of you that may want to take your blog to the next level and monetize it to make some money as well.

I may not be a top earning blogger (yet), however, I have learned about some ways in which to earn money with my blog and I am sharing them with you.

Affiliate Programs: There are so many affiliate programs out there today that it can be very confusing for bloggers that want to monetize their website. I continue to learn about new affiliate programs and do a little bit of research before I just go ahead and join them. I would prefer to not use too many different affiliate programs and just stick to a couple that work for me and my blog.

Here are a few affiliate programs I have/or currently used: Skimlinks, VigLinks, Linkshare, Pepperjam and ShareASale.

Paid/Sponsored Posts: Sometimes a company will approach you to do a paid or sponsored post. They will agree on a price for you to write a post and usually to promote the post on your social media as well.

Digital Downloads: If you’re creative you can create booklets, eBooks and other digital downloads and have your visitors pay to access them. There are websites that can host these and take care of the whole transaction for you. If you promote them enough you can basically sell them in your sleep.

Courses: If you have a skill or information that you believe you can teach others some bloggers also offer courses. You can offer teaching videos via special access. Some bloggers offer one course that people have access to. Others offer a series that goes on for a couple of days and is broken up into small chunks of information.

What are your favorite ways to make money blogging? If you have a post about making money blogging add it in the comments or link back to this post if you write one.

Product Review: Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in 1995: This was the first color that I tried and it was the perfect nude (for me). It glided on smoothly and after it “dried” my lips felt soft to the touch. As far as wear it lasted for most of the day without cracking or smudging – even after I ate some food and sipped out of a straw. I can see why this is one of their top sellers – I think it would look great on many different skin tones.

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Wine Down: This color is a delicious wine colored liquid lipstick.

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Groupie: If you like to shake things up a bit you would love this color. It is maroon with just the right amount of sparkle in it.

I also purchased Gerard Cosmetics Buttercream Lip Scrub. The company states that it can remove matte lipstick as well – I didn’t try it as I didn’t want to use up some of the product doing that.

I would absolutely purchase more colors of their Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick as I love the formula so much. What’s great about Gerard Cosmetics is that they are always having some sort of sale so check back with them to see when your favorites are on sale.

Wellness & Beauty Wish List

Since the holidays are right around the corner I decided it would be fun to share some products I would love to get my hands on.

  1. Augustinus Bader Face Cream: This cream sounds like magic in a bottle, however, with its hefty price I only dream that I could afford to add this to my skincare routine.
  2. Foreo Issa Electric Toothbrush: I’ve been lusting after these toothbrushes for awhile but haven’t convinced myself that this is something that I really need – yet. Another toothbrush I heard is worth looking into (and is half the price of the Issa) is the Colgate Hum Smart Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush.
  3. Revision Skincare BodiFirm: Said to lift and sculpt your body I feel like I have a handful of places I could to slather this on.
  4. HALO BEAUTY Kiwi Skin Booster: My sister has this supplement and loves what it did to her skin. I started taking some of hers, but not long enough to see results. I would still like to scoop up a bottle for myself to see what it does in a few weeks to a month.
  5. FabFitFun Box Subscription: This is probably one of the most popular subscription boxes that I have heard of. I have been going back and forth on purchasing a subscription for as long as I have known about it. One of my sisters is subscribed and I have read and watched many great reviews on it. Sounds like it is totally worth the monthly price, however, I am currently subscribed to the SinglesSwag subscription box and I told myself I would try to only do one subscription box at a time. Click here to get $15 off your first order using my referral link.
  6. Allure Beauty Box Subscription: As I mentioned before, I am trying to only do one subscription at a time, but this one is on my wish list as well. For the great price ($15) I hear you get some really fantastic beauty products. This may be the next one that I get, unless of course someone gifts it to me for the holidays.

Singles Swag Subscription Box Review October 2020 with Discount Code

After reading reviews and watching YouTube unboxing videos, I finally caved in and started getting some subscription boxes. So far I have only signed up for 2 that I thought looked like I would enjoy the most. One of them is Singles Swag.

Even though the name implies that it is strictly for single people, there are a lot of items that really are just great for self care and self love. The first box that I got was full of wonderful surprises. I must note that I am not in anyway sponsored by them and all thoughts are my own. See below for a referral link to get $15 off your first box.

The box costs $24.99/mo for the petite box and $39.99/mo for their full size box. Get $15 off your first box by clicking here and based on my first box it is totally worth it. You can sign up for a monthly, 3 month or 6 month subscription (each giving you a better deal).

Here are the items I got in my first box (Retail value $118):

  1. Spongelle Body Wash Infused Buffer (Retail value $20): This sponge is a flower shaped, scented squishy delight. It has a rose scent which may be a bit much for those sensitive to smell. I haven’t used it yet so I don’t have anything further to say about it just yet.
  2. Dime Beauty Immunity Boos Roll-On Essential Oil (Retail value $24): This roll-on oil smells delicious. It smells like a relaxing spa in a jar. The scent (for me) is eucalyptus with a hint of citrus. I’m wearing it right now and feel relaxed.
  3. Oh Ki Beauty 3-Step Marine Algae Mask Set (Retail value $12): I am very excited to use this mask. I have been wanting to try new masks and this is a Korean beauty mask so I will of course report back later on how this worked for me. It says it will heal and protect the skin ending with a dewy and hydrated finish.
  4. Gen3 Mila Zodiac Charm Bracelet (Retail value $58): This is probably my favorite item in the box. It is gold (can’t tell if plated maybe) and has little star and moon charms on it. What I also love, aside from it’s cuteness is that it fits up to 9 inch wrist and is adjustable. My wrist itself is not that big but my hand span is wide so slide on bracelets like that are often difficult to put on. Smart design makes me happy and I can’t wait to wear it out.
  5. Oogie’s Snacks Movie Time Butter Gourmet Popcorn (Retail value $4): Who doesn’t love a nice snack? I thought it was nice for them to add a little something to nibble on in here. I tried it since we are out of popcorn and I liked it. It was yummy – salty, sweet and savory – without being overly salty. It almost has a cheesy flavor to it but that may be the type of butter that they use. My sister and I agree it could use a little bit more of the flavoring.

As you can see the items aren’t necessarily for singles only. There is a bit of beauty, a bit of fashion and a bit of snacks to keep you enjoying your days. As I mentioned above, the bracelet is probably my favorite item out of the entire box.

If you sign up for a box you are also able to purchase past items in their shop at 50% off the retail price which is super cool if you really like something and want to purchase either another one for yourself or for a gift since the holidays are right around the corner.

Since I haven’t used most of the items I will be sure to review them on other posts as I add them to my daily routine. Overall I am pleased with the products that I received this month.
