Reading, Watching, Listening

Reading: I am currently reading Pulse by Lydia Kwa. It is a novel about a woman that finds out her ex lovers son has suddenly died. I love how detailed the author is. She is a great storyteller and makes me feel as if I am there watching as the story unfolds right in front of my eyes.

Watching: We have nearly every streaming service that is available but we tend to often go right back to old faithful (Netflix). Ever since Supermarket Sweep was added we having been watching the episodes and yelling out answers at the television screen. Fun family time.

Listening: Not really something I would normally listen to but I discovered LightSkinKeisha album Clones on the XXL website and thought I would check it out and see if I would like it. Well, lets just say it has some bops on it. I especially love Baby Fatha, Demon Time and Queen Kong. The songs make you feel like a bad b*tch. Definitely worth a listen if you’re a female rap fan. Aside from the music I also love her style.

What have you been watching, reading and listening to? Let us know in the comments.

Where To Purchase Plus Size Bras

Hello there. And a special hello to my plus size readers. If you’re like me you wear plus size clothes as well as plus size bras and for whatever reason it is often difficult to find plus size bras (that are actually plus size).

To help my plus size gals out I gathered some of the places to shop for plus size bras. Some of the places/brands I have shopped with before, whereas others are ones that have been recommended by other plus size women.

Before you start shopping for bras I would definitely recommend getting a professional bra fitting. You can also google “bra fitting directions/fit guide” and do your fitting at home. You just need one of those soft measuring tapes. You may need someone to help you do the measuring but it will totally be worth it.

Lane Bryant (Cacique): The Lane Bryant brand has been around for years and their Cacique lingerie line is one of my favorite for plus size lingerie and I swear by their bras. This is the main brand of bras that I purchase for myself. I love that they offer different styles/cuts as well a variety of fashion colors and prints. Shop: www.lanebryant.com/cacique

Bare Necessities: This website offers many different brands and styles of bras in an abundance of sizes. Shop: www.bareneccessities.com

Wacoal: They offer many different styles including minimizer bras if that is something you are looking for. Shop: www.wacoal-america.com

Ashley Stewart: They offer a lot of full coverage bras to choose from – they have their butterfly bra, underwire and wireless bras. Ocassionally you can also find fashion colors and prints. Shop: www.ashleystewart.com/bras

Harlow & Fox: Shop: www.harlowandfox.com

Savage X Fenty: If you’re looking for different styles of bras as well as fashion colors and prints this is the place to go. Shop: www.savagex.com

Elomi: They offer full coverage bras in a variety of fashion colors Shop: Amazon.com as well as at BareNeccessities.com

Lunaire: This brand offers underwire and soft cup bras in a variety of styles. From what I have seen they have mainly neutral colored bras. Shop: www.herroom.com and Amazon.com

Lively: If you’re looking for neutral colored bras in a variety of styles/cuts this is the place to go. They go up to DDD in size. Shop: www.wearlively.com

Warner’s: Find racer back, smoothing and t-shirt bras in a variety of sizes. Availble in mainly neutral tones. Shop: www.warners.com and Warner’s on Amazon.com

Nubian Skin: If you’re looking for a bra in your skin tone this is the perfect place to shop for bras. I love that they have a wide range of sizes available. Shop: www.nubianskin.com

Third Love: Third Love offers many different styles of bras including wireless, strapless and maternity bras. Shop: www.thirdlove.com

Torrid: Torrid has great t-shirt bras in a variety of styles and prints. Shop: www.torrid.com

Adore Me: Go here and fill out their style quiz and they will curate the perfect bra(s) for you. Shop: www.adoreme.com

Bali: Different styles and neutral tones are available for your shopping pleasure. Shop: www.herroom.com and Bali bras at Amazon.com

Playtex: Shop: Playtex on Amazon.com , www.herroom.com and www.justmysize.com

Fantasie: Smoothing bras are available in a variety of colors and stylels. Shop: www.herroom.com

Amazon: You can search for a lot of lingerie and bras and find different brands that you may not have heard of before. Some of the brands listed above can be found there as well and I tried to link to them. Shop: Plus size bras on Amazon.com

Seeing The Red Flags in Dating

Ever look back on a tumultuous relationship and think “how did I not see that train wreck coming?” Or perhaps one of your close friends or family members are in a relationship and you wonder why they are so blinded by love that they don’t see any of the red flags?

Love can blind us from seeing the red flags in dating, especially if we focus on all of the potential of a relationship rather than what is actually going on. These red flags can often be right in front of our eyes but we don’t even notice them. Or worse – we notice them and ignore them.

If you notice that you continue to date the same type of person or the outcome of your relationship (the end) tends to be the same it may be time to take a deeper look into why that is. Yes – the “issue” could be you as you are the common denominator in these relationships. Your lack of noticing and acting upon these red flags is something you may have to own up to.

If you realize that you have been ignoring red flags (or maybe don’t even know what some of them are when you’re in a relationship) it may be a good idea to write down all the “bad” things you have noticed about people in general from people you have personally dated to other people in your life – friends, family members and people that are dating or married to friends and family members. You may have friends/family members that have bad behaviors when it comes to dating as well – write that all down.

Once you get the complete list – you may have to add to it every once and awhile when you think of something new – sit down and look over it. Notice any patterns that stick out to you. Circle or star the ones that really bother you the most – the top 3 to 5 and make a new list with those. Write what you think makes you “ok” with it, why you ignore it and also note what you would prefer to have instead.

For example, do you tend to notice you date people that are emotionally unavailable? Maybe you are mirroring relationships you have seen growing up. What you prefer is to have someone that is emotionally available. Write all of this down.

Working on a list of boundaries may help you as well. It can be tough at first to realize when someone is not respecting your boundaries. After awhile, however, it will become a norm for you to expect people to respect them – and not put up with it for longer than you used to in the past.

My Favorite Google Chrome Extensions

Hey techies. I’m always wondering what apps and extensions people use to get their day running smoothly. From to do lists to social media scheduling as a blogger it is important for me to stay organized and on task no matter what day it is.

These are my favorite Google Chrome Exensions.

Google Calendar: This keeps me organized and I love that I can drag events to a later time/date.
Buffer: Perfect for scheduling social media posts if you find something online that you want to share later.
Pinterest: Pin websites whenever from wherever. Add to all your boards.
Todoist: My favorite to-do list app. I tend to think of things while I’m on my computer so instead of jotting it down for later or having to pick up my phone this makes it super easy to add to my to-do list.
OneTab: I love this because you can save websites for later viewing. It is a bookmarking extension and saves the links by date so you can access them later.
eBates/Rakuten: Get money back when you shop online. The extension (when you’re logged in) alerts you of cash back opportunities on websites that you’re shopping on.
Pocket: Save things for later. Syncs with the app so you have your items on the go.
Google Scholar: This one is for college students. It is comes in handy when you’re writing papers and/or researching things.

Interview Tips

Awhile back I wrote about Job Hunting Like A Boss and I thought it would be a good idea to share some tips on what to do once you land an interview. I am not a career advice professional, however, I have been to many interviews in my life and gotten the job nearly every time.

The two times I did not get the job (or at least a call back):
1. I applied for a job at an electronics store and the other person being interviewed used to work for the company so I’m pretty sure they picked him over me.
2. I applied for a department store and there were many, many, many applicants and I didn’t have any retail experience at that time.

Other than those two times, I have either gotten an offer or was hired. I also used to be a Retail Store Manager so I have been on the other side – in regards to interviewing and hiring.

Before the interview
Learn about the company and the position: A quick google search can usually get you all the information you need to find out more about the company and the position that you are applying for. You can also learn more by searching LinkedIn as well. It’s nice to walk into an interview knowing a bit about the company – you can impress people with this knowledge if it comes up. It is also important to know at least a little about the position and what the average pay is.

Dress the part: After you learn a bit more about the company and the position decide what professional outfit to wear.

During the interview
Be professional: Even in a more relaxed setting is important to remain professional. Sometimes the interviewer may be a little more laid back. Go with the flow, however, remain professional at the same time.

After the interview
Followup: If you are not offered the position at the interview be sure to followup in a few days to see if you are chosen as one of the candidates. Don’t be rude or obnoxious on the phone/in the email. Just simply say you are following up on your interview and wanted to know what the hiring managers thoughts were after your interview.
