Reading, Watching, Listening

Reading: For this year I decided that I would like to read a minimum of 1 book every month. Last year I kept starting books and then never finishing them but this year has been going well for me. I’ve already read one book (via audible) and am on track to finish possibly 2-3 more depending on how often I read. I’ve been using audible as well as hard copies of books – depending on the book. The one that I am finishing up on is Do Over by Jon Acuff. If you are looking to advance or change your career trajectory I would highly recommend picking this book up! NOW!

Watching: I haven’t really been in the mood to watch much tv lately but I had some family members that introduced me to a Netflix original series called Sweet Tooth and I’ve really been enjoying watching it. It is a bit wild because the world is going through a pandemic in the show but the enjoyable part is that there are babies being born half animal and half human. So something a little different. If you like a little adventure and a little bit of chaos you should enjoy this show as well.

Listening: The latest projects I’ve been listening to is The Weeknd and Adele. Something upbeat and something a bit somber. A good mix of both. I’m actually using my SoundCloud account for once – stepped away from my go-to Pandora account (I know, I know, what century am I living in?).

Reading, Watching and Listening

Being in the house means more time to read, watch and listen to things (for me anyways) so here is what I have been up to lately

Reading: I have been reading Joy’s Way A Map for the Transformational Journey: An Introduction to the Potentials for Healing with Body Energies by W. Brugh Joy. It talks about healing the body.

Watching: When I was younger I wanted to be a fashion designer so whenever I discover something that has to do with it I make sure to dive right in. Lately we have been watching Next in Fashion and I have been enjoying seeing all the creative takes the designers have on the challenges that they get. The show starts out with designers in teams of two and eventually (after some eliminations) the designers are separated and have to design on their own. This has been a fun season to watch.

Listening: I have been listening to a lot of relaxing/meditative type of music. Singh Kaur Radio on Pandora has been my go-to lately. So relaxing.

Book Review: Satellite, The Satellite Trilogy Part I by Lee Davidson

This eBook was given to me in exchange for an honest book review of it on my blog. This review is my honest opinion of the book and I was in no way compensated in exchange for a positive review. Book: Satellite, The Satellite Trilogy Part I
Author: Lee Davidson

Satellite Triology Lee DavidsonThe beginning of this story was a slow read, however, once I got into it I really enjoyed it. The more that I read, the deeper that it pulled me in. It speaks from the view of a man in the afterlife and uncovers the love and longing that he has for the woman that he left behind. He wants so much to live on in human form and is not concerned about the consequences he may face if he attempts to connect with her. As a Satellite or Guardian Angel, he is given responsibilities and he has little to no concern towards the consequences he may face if he ignores them. There is a major plot twist that I didn’t really see coming and it was a nice surprise.

As far as characters go, I really liked them – even the stubborn main character, Grant, who is a mans-man. He is not very in touch with his feelings and I think I would have liked him a lot more if he was. I feel like his feelings were being buried and if they had been revealed I would have probably been in tears after reading this book.

I enjoyed the plot, however, I do think that it was missing information about actually being a Satellite. I am not sure if the other books cover this but I think that there was some potential for a great story (within the story) about the paranormal world that Grant is thrust into. More background information about how they came to be and their history would have been really exciting to read about.

The ending really left me wanting more and I am very interested in reading the next book in the trilogy. I would love to see what happens next to Grant and the other characters. Also, I am hoping that the next book digs a bit deeper into the history of the Satellites. After reading Satellite, I really wanted to watch Ghost because it has that same feeling you get when the two lovers in the film want to be connected again and will do just about anything to do so. This book is a perfect read for a Friday night when you want to curl up and enjoy some hot tea.
