If you have a blog, you have a platform and a voice. Use today to talk about the cause most important to your heart.
There are a lot of important causes out there so I am just going to chose a foundation to write about. The foundation I chose to focus on today is one that I know has changed the lives of many children which includes my youngest sister.
Little Sis
My sister was born with a major heart and lung condition that has caused many complications in her life. She has been on medications since she was born and has had several surgeries over the years. Whenever she had to have another surgery or another health issue came up there was always so much worry and anxiety. Because of her health she wasn’t able to always do the things that other children her age could do. Even with all of her health issues though, she had wishes just like every other little girl. One of her biggest ones was to go to Disneyland.
Make-A-Wish® Foundation
Make-A-Wish® grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in the United States and its territories, on average, every 38 minutes. We believe that a wish experience can be a game-changer. This one belief guides us. It inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve. – Make-A-Wish® website
The Make-A-Wish® Foundation really does make wishes come true! When my sister said her wish was to go to Disneyland they granted that wish. She was the happiest 6-year old in the world. The pictures we have of her only partially show how happy she was to go to Disneyland. She got to have breakfast with Disney characters and came home with cute costumes and souvenirs. When she tells her story it still lights me up inside because I remember how happy she was after that trip.
Whenever I hear about kids getting their wish it makes me all teary. – My Sister
Unfortunately, not all children with life-threatening medical conditions make it to adulthood. That is what makes the Make-A-Wish® Foundation and their mission so important. By granting them their wishes these children have at least 1 amazing and exciting memory in their life. And if they grow up and make it to adulthood it is a memory they can share with others as well.
Little Sis is a fighter. If you knew every single detail of the things she has gone through you would say the same thing. She somehow beat the odds and made it to her 20’s. She has gone through so much in her life and I know that Make-A-Wish® really helped to create some happy memories for her to hold on to. My Sister and I thank them from the bottom of our hearts for making her wish come true so many years ago.
